Dear Viewers,

We at the Sci Fi Channel would like to apologize for cancelling \"The Invisible Man\". Although we have given no explanation to the producers, cast or crew of the show, we certainly feel that we owe you, our loyal viewers, an explanation.

\"The Invisible Man\" was one of the three lowest-rated original programs here at Sci Fi, along with \"Crossing Over with John Edward\" and \"Farscape\". While we have not yet gotten around to cancelling those, you can be assured that our Programming Department is working hard on it.

Unfortunately, when it comes to televison programming, numbers are the bottom line. While \"Farscape\" and \"The Invisible Man\" have consistently earned ratings numbers like \"1\" and \"2\", shows like \"The Chronicle\" and \"Lexx\" have earned numbers like \"11\' and \"14\". As anyone can see, 11 and 14 are bigger numbers than 1 and 2. And in these times of economic hardship, we must go for the larger numbers.

To cut costs, we have added more employees to our Programming department, and made sure that each has at least one abacus to do their calculations with. We have also hired the television executive who cancelled \"Star Trek\" on NBC and \"America\'s Most Wanted\" on Fox (yes, it was the same guy!) to head our department, because he has gotten more mail than any executive in the history of TV programming, and has worked in many more jobs than any other exec, and as you know by now, more is better.

Since our announcement of the cancellation of \"The Invisible Man\", we have been pleased to see out overall ratings among cable networks move from 22 to 31. By the end 2002, we hope to be at around 64 or 65.

The only reason that \"Farscape\" and \"The Chronicle\" are still on is that they have many more cast members than \"The Invisible Man\", and thus are clearly better shows. As you may recall, \"First Wave\" originally only had two cast members, and even when the production company added a third, it still fell short of our better shows, and thus we had to cancel it.

Those of you who appreciate quality scifi programming will be pleased to know of our intention to make new episodes of \"Home Boys from Outer Space\", a cancelled UPN show from several years back, which consistently earned Nielsen ratings of 121 or 122!

To further increase the quality of our programming, we have also instructed our production companies to record their shows at louder levels, to match the volume of our excellent commericals.

Many thanks to you, our loyal viewers. We look forward to bringing you more, and thus better, programming in 2002.

Sincerely,
The Sci Fi Channel

RATINGS: Top 10 SF Channel Shows: Willow 1.5; Stephen King's It, Pt. 2 1.4; Stephen King's It, Pt. 1 1.0; Center of the Earth, Pt. 2 0.9; Making of Rings 0.9; Center of the Earth, Pt. 1 0.8; Amityville Horror 0.8; The Shadow 0.8; Star Trek 0.8, and John Edward 0.7. Source: Nielsen Galaxy Report, 12/3/01 - 12/9/01.
