Torchwood: 'Lost Souls' Audio Play auf BBC4

Zur Feier der Anschaltung des LHCs im CERN gibt's für uns ein Radio-Höspiel (Gratis Download bei BBC4) zum Thema 'Big Bang', zeitlich angesiedelt nach dem Ende der zweiten Staffel.

"Somewhere out there in that chaos of darkness and light, of science and protons, of gods and stars and death... somewhere there's an answer."

Martha Jones, ex-time traveller and now working as a doctor for a UN task force, has been called to CERN - the world's largest particle physics laboratory in Geneva - where they're about to activate the Large Hadron Collider. The LHC is a particle accelerator, which has been built deep underground in a 27 km tunnel under Switzerland and France. Once activated the Collider will fire beams of protons together recreating conditions a billionth of a second after the Big Bang - and potentially allowing the human race a greater insight into what the Universe is made of. But so much could go wrong - it could open a gateway to a parallel dimension, or create a black hole - and now voices from the past are calling out to people and scientists have started to disappear...

Where have the missing scientists gone? What is the secret of the glowing man? What is lurking in the underground tunnel? And do the dead ever really stay dead?

Jau, eine solide Torchwood-Folge, die uns mit ein paar Auswirkungen des Staffelfinales konfrontieren (und wir bekommen in so gut wie jedem Fandom zu wenige davon. Etwas schade, dass es eben 'nur' Audio war, denn das LHC (insbesondere ALICE) ist wirklich eine beeindruckende Kulisse.

Ianto war grandios, wir haben Jack/Martha bekommen und auch noch einen Jack, der mit seiner Unsterblichkeit hadert - wieder eine Sache, von der wir zu wenig sehen in den normalen Folgen.
Schade nur, dass die Wissenschaft mal wieder mit Füßen getreten wurde, und Jack problemlos durch den Doktor hätte ersetzt werden können - inklusive der wissenschaftlichen Zusammenfassung was ein Higgs Boson ist, wie man die Wesen aufhält und des Geschwafels wie toll Menschen sind. Naja. Trotzdem hat's gut funktioniert, obwohl die Kamera fehlte, waren alle Schauspieler definitv erkennbar in ihren Rollen - nur Freema kann's besser, aber vielleicht ist das auch einfach, wie sie Martha spielt...
