20 Animated "Jedi Purge' Serial Shorts to Appear on Cartoon Network in 2005.
ATLANTA -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mar. 30, 2004 -- Cartoon Network and Lucasfilm Ltd. announced today that their partnership has been extended for a new animated short series.
Star Wars: Jedi Purge continues the saga where the live action feature film Star Wars: Episode III will end - at the end of the Clone Wars, the birth of Darth Vader and the rise of the empire.
"Genndy Tartakovsky and the team at Cartoon Network are tops in their field," said Howard Roffman, president of Lucas Licensing. "Their work on Clone Wars shows that they can tell an epic story in a unique way, lavishing equal attention on dramatic battle scenes as well as the dramatic development of the characters."
In addition to returning characters like Obi-Wan, Darth Vader and Yoda, Star Wars: Jedi Purge will spotlight new characters, designs and hardware, which Tartakovsky and his artists are eagerly tackling. "We are having a lot of fun with the development of the Clone Troopers to the Stormtroopers of the Original Trilogy. They're all... well, more cool," he says. "We are talking with LFL about which Jedi we can use, which we can kill and which will be killed in an other way then the cartoon."

EDIT: Was sich allerdings mit dieser News von darth-sonic.de widerspricht. Wobei die aktueller ist als meine (deren is von heute, meine von vorgestern). Hat sich LFL von Cartoon Network getrennt?
Lucasfilm scheint heute Nägel mit Köpfen machen zu wollen: Vor fast einem Jahr berichteten wir über die Gründung des neuen Animations-Studios "Lucasfilm Animation" welche Filme im Stile von Pixar´s Toy Story und Co. produzieren wird. Nun scheint die erste Produktion bekannt:
Lucasfilm Animation wird eine 10teilige Animated Star Wars TV-Serie herausbringen. Geplant ist ein Release im Sommer 2005, also unmittelbar nach Episode 3. Die Serie soll die Geschehnisse zwischen Episode 3 und 4 aufzeigen.
Klingt super interessant und passt dazu, daß Lucasfilm noch heute eine Pressemitteilung bezügl. Ihrer (Film-)Projekte bis einschl. 2010 machen will. Wir lassen uns überraschen wieviel Wahrheit in diesem Gerücht steckt.
