It’s the most popular series on the Scifi cable TV channel in the US and next year it will make its debut as a PC game. The show is Farscape and developer Red Lemon and publisher Simon and Schuster Interactive have taken on the challenge of bring this complex TV show to the PC monitor. HomeLAN got a chance to chat with S&S Interactive producer Elizabeth Braswell and Red Lemon producer Alan McDairmant (with a cameo by publisher PR rep Peter Binazeski) about their plans for the Farscape game.

HomeLAN - There has been very little info on the Farscape game since it was first announced earlier this year. Why was the decision made to keep info at a minimum for a while?

Peter Binazeski - We had an agreement with Computer Games magazine to have the exclusive first look at the game. This month Farscape is the featured preview. We will be doing more previews and screenshots from the game soon (and more interviews!)

HomeLAN - Why did Simon and Schuster wish to obtain the rights to make a Farscape game?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - What, are you kidding me? Farscape is the best new scifi on tv. While other licenses are getting that, ah, \'not so fresh\' feeling, Farscape is innovative, edgy, well written and fun. Having attractive main characters doesn\'t hurt, either.

HomeLAN - Why was Red Lemon selected as the developer for the game?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - After interviewing dozens of developers, Red Lemon was chosen because of their enthusiasm for the license - they had already contacted Henson about it - and because of their professionalism. They have put out games on time and on budget - which very few groups can boast. Their designer loves the show and had good track record. Also, their accents are brilliant. Ok, just kidding. But the Scots sound *great* interviewed...

HomeLAN - What can you tell us about the actual gameplay and what game genre Farscape is a part of ?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - It\'s and Action Adventure game in the style of Diablo 2. Except in our game you can have a team of up to three characters with unique skills and it\'s fully 3D.

HomeLAN - What characters from the Farscape show will be playable in the game?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - All six of the main characters are available to play, including: Crichton, D\'argo, Zhaan, Aeryn, Chiana and Rygel. The game begins with two of them with the rest being unlocked as you progress. Each of the characters has unique skills, including stealth, combat, tech and theft that are key to solving puzzles in the game.

HomeLAN - What other Farscape characters and aliens will be a part of the game?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - Well, that would be telling... But Pilot will be there (and Moya). The major races including the Peacekeepers, Scarran, Scorvians and the Sheyang will all appear as well as a lot of cool new races and creatures designed specifically for the game.

HomeLAN - What is the plot of the game and how does the story fit into the established Farscape history?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - It takes place at the end of season one - right after Chiana joins the crew. The Peacekeepers have invaded the living ship Moya, forcing her crew to scatter to the surface of a nearby planet. Our heroes\' objective is to regroup so they can regain control of Moya, but in the midst of this they get involved in a plot with massive implications for the universe.

HomeLAN - What settings will be seen in the game? Will we get to see some familiar locations from the TV show?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - Moya will feature in the game but the planet environments are all new and will be incredibly varied, including mysterious jungles, strange deserts and subterranean caverns.

HomeLAN - Will there be a multiplayer portion of the Farscape game?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - No. It\'s not appropriate for the story we are telling. But wait for future projects...

HomeLAN - How is Henson Interactive helping with the development of the game?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - First of all, they\'re *helping,* and in a superb way, which is enormous praise for a licensor in general! Seriously - they\'ve been fantastic, from getting us reference material we\'ve needed to letting us know where the show is going in ways that will help, they got us involved in their convention and other sorts of publicity events. They\'re a real pleasure to work with. And you know what? They are just as fun, and funny and great to hang with as you might imagine people from Henson would be.

HomeLAN - Will the Farscape cast members participate in the game in some way?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - We are working out the details of recording their voices this very moment.

HomeLAN - Will there be a demo of the game released before the game hits stores?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - Of course.

HomeLAN - What is the current status of the Farscape game and when will it appear in stores?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - Farscape will be available mid April.

HomeLAN - Finally, if this first Farscape game is successfull will there be more Farscape games released?

Elizabeth Braswell and Alan McDairmant - Of course!
