No, I did not work on any of the films in any capacity. Nor have I ever been employed by Lucasfilm. However, I have been paid to write STAR WARS and related articles in the past for publication, both in my name as well as under a pen name. And I have been printed in official SW publications.
- I do know people within several facets of the Lucas "family" of companies, including Lucasfilm itself, ILM, LucasArts, and The Official SW Fan Club. Some of these people I could even call friends and it would not be a stretch. I've known a few of them for a long, long time... going back as fans before they ever became Lucasfilm employees. This (as well as because of the writing) is also how I have been privileged enough to visit Skywalker Ranch personally on more than one ocassion (and that is nothing I have taken lightly... I saw tons of things there I have barely even shared with my own wife). Also, I know 2 people who worked directly on AOTC (on the set in Sydney) and will be there again for EP3.
- I have been involved in SW fandom for many, many years now. It started with pen pals and fanzines that began in the late 70's and continued through the "dark ages" of fandom into the early 90's. Then, it moved onto the internet where I became heavily involved again as one of the founders of JediNet.com. There, I created "Prequel Watch" which was one of the foremost sites for news on the production of EPISODE I. That spotlight allowed me some opportunities, including appearances on national television broadcasts (including one that was live from my home on CBS This Morning), newspapers and magazines across the world, and on BBC radio in the UK. I also landed some writing gigs and was the main source of EP1 gossip for "Entertainment Weekly" magazine. So, yes, I was into it... big time. In fact, I invested so much time into it that I suffered from BIG TIME burn-out shortly after the release of TPM. And, in some ways, that continues today. I no longer collect any SW memorabilia (which I once did) and I can't spend hours a day researching, reading and talking about it like I used to.
- Other than my personal history and involvement in fandom, I have been the source of accurate inside information. Those who know me understand that I am not big on spoilers or spilling on the minutiae of the films at every turn. But I get the info, have access to it, and know my stuff. As I said in another thread, I will put my reputation as a source of correct SW and Lucasfilm information up against anyone else on the internet. I know that sounds cocky... and it probably is. But I believe I've earned it.
- I can't spend the time to quantify each and every major scoop I have been involved with. But I guess I could finally spill one little tidbit: Many may remember that CHUD's first memorable scoop was that of advanced design artwork for creatures and vehicles from EP1. Well, yes... I was the source of that stuff as well as the story synopsis that also leaked out onto the internet (though that last one was NOT by my direct doing... long story).
I hope this clarifies some things for you. Bottom line... when it comes to SW or Lucasfilm, I usually know what I'm talking about and don't post stuff just to post it
