LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Heads are rolling on "CSI: Crime Scene
Investigation."

Sources said two supporting actors on the hit CBS crime series, George Eads and
Jorja Fox (news), have been let go amid a salary scuffle with series producers
CBS Prods. and Canadian firm Alliance Atlantis.

Sources said that Eads showed up for work late Thursday morning, when the show
had an early 6:15 a.m. call time, and was sent a termination letter soon
afterward.

Fox was understood to have been sent a similar termination letter Wednesday.
Sources said CBS recently asked all of the actors on "CSI" to send in a formal
letter assuring the network that they would report to work as scheduled for the
start of production on the show's fifth season.

Sources said CBS terminated Fox after failing to receive her letter. It is not
clear whether the actress had sent the letter, but one source indicated that
she had.

Eads did comply with the network's request to submit his letter, sources said.

Eads and Fox, both of whom have been with the drama since its debut in fall
2000, had approached the network about a salary increase for the coming season,
sources said. CBS is said to have responded with what industry sources
described as a modest take-it-or-leave-it offer of an increase.

Eads' reps at the William Morris Agency and Fox's handlers at Int'l Creative
Management declined comment on the matter, as did CBS.

Some industry veterans were surprised at the hard-line stance taken by CBS
about a salary renegotiation for two longtime members of the ensemble on a hit
show that has generated hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising sales
and syndication profits for CBS and Alliance Atlantis.

But sources familiar with the network's position said CBS brass were determined
to stand their ground because of the growing number of instances where actors
with contractual obligations to a show refuse to return to work until their
salaries are renegotiated. CBS faced such a situation last fall with cast
members on the hit comedy "Everybody Loves Raymond."

Sources said Eads and Fox had two more seasons to go on their existing
contracts. There were conflicting reports about whether series stars Marg
Helgenberger (news) and William Petersen were at work Thursday, but one source
said that the only cast member on the set that day was Gary Dourdan. Reports of
strife on the "CSI" set came on the same day that the show earned an Emmy
nomination for best drama series.
