Ben Browders neue Serienrolle

Von Claudia Black im Stargate-Universum kann man sich ja schon nächste Woche in "Prometheus Unbound" ein Bild machen, die am Dienstag auf Sky one ausgestrahlt wird. In dieser Rolle kehrt sie dann auch in 5 Episoden der 9.Staffel zurück!

Mit der Newsseite, auf der gleich beide zu sehen waren, meinte ich diese hier. Ist auch noch gerade eine deutsche.

Ist schon ein gutes Zeichen, dass Claudia Black als Vala zurückkehrt, obwohl die Folge nicht mal gezeigt wurde. Normalweise kommt so eine Rolle ja erst gut an und dann kommt die Entscheidung, sie noch mal auftreten zu lassen, aber schon vorher... muss ja mächtig Eindruck gemacht haben. :P

Browder's SG-1 Role Revealed

Robert C. Cooper, executive producer of SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1, told SCI FI Wire that new regular cast member Ben Browder (Farscape) will play a new military member of the SG-1 team. "Ben is playing a military guy, a lieutenant colonel," Cooper said in an interview. "And I can't tell you his name yet. It hasn't been legally cleared yet, so it could still change."

Browder's character, who joins the show in the upcoming ninth season, has a past history with the Stargate program, Cooper said. "The audience just hasn't met him yet," he said. "He's actually played a key role in some major events that went on ... in the Stargate universe and was in fact very instrumental in helping SG-1 succeed in one of their more important missions. And as a result of that, he was given ... his choice posting. And he ultimately chooses to join SG-1. So when he first appears on the show, SG-1 will already know who he is. And we'll see some of those scenes and how he was basically woven into the tapestry of the show through flashbacks."

Cooper said that Stargate SG-1 will embark on a new direction in the upcoming ninth season. "One of the things we've always done with Stargate ... [is] to reinvent ourselves all the time, and ... bring in new villains and anything we needed to do to keep the show fresh," he said. "And yet we still, I think, stuck to the core concept and the core team that started out at the beginning. And so fans of the show will still feel as though things are very comfortable and familiar, you know? We're still going to see Daniel Jackson and Teal'c and Carter and our new colonel going through the Stargate to alien worlds and getting into adventures. But there's going to be some big new dangers as well. We [will wrap] up a lot of storylines in season eight. And I think that, hopefully, fans are going to be very satisfied by the conclusion of season eight, and feel like we've really paid off a lot of the stories we've been building up over the last couple of years. And we're looking at season nine to start fresh with some new stories and a new take on the Stargate universe." The remaining new episodes of Stargate SG-1's eighth season kick off Jan. 21, 2005, in a new Friday 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, followed by the new episodes of Stargate Atlantis at 9 p.m. and the new original series Battlestar Galactica at 10 p.m. The ninth season of SG-1 will begin airing in the summer.

Irgendwelche Vorschläge, um welches "major event" es sich handelt? Ich hab zwar die meisten SG-Folgen gesehen, aber bei dieser Serie ist es bei mir irgendwie immer "zum einen Auge rein, zum anderen wieder raus", ich brauch wohl ein paar Gedächtnisstützen.

Ist da nicht jede Woche ein "Major event"? Mir gehts da ganz ähnlich wie dir Pike, keine Anhnung wie oder warum man Ben schon kennen sollte.
Aber da sie sich selbst neu erfinden wollen, ists wohl das beste, wieder ganz zurück zum Anfang zu gehen. Vielleicht irgend etwas Wichtiges, was wir bereits aus dem Film wissen? Etwas über Ra?
So ne Art Rückgriff auf die Wurzeln, das fänd ich zum Bleistift sehr schön.

Ja, das wäre mal ne interessante Idee gewesen. Aber der Gedankengang war wohl eher, dass man vielen Zuschauern, die erst in den späteren Staffeln auf die Serie gestoßen sind, einen so weiten Rückgriff nicht zumuten kann, oder so. Denn der "major event" ist aus der 7. Staffel.

Vorsicht, kleiner Spoiler für das Season Finale der 7. SG-1 Staffel, ich hab's zur Sicherheit mal markiert:

Ben Browder könnte mich glatt in Versuchung führen, mir Star Gate anzuschauen. Ich habe bisher nie eine einzige Folge komplett gesehen. Hat mich einfach nie genug interessiert, obwohl ich den Film mochte.

Ich hab mich doch tatsächlich hinreissen lassen, die Folge mit Claudia zu schauen und da habe ich wieder gemerkt, warum ich das ganze nie geschaut habe.... Aber mit Ben? Naaa, mal schaun, nech?

Hm... ich finde die 8. Staffel bisher richtig gut, aber das muss ja nicht jedermanns Sache sein. Habe allerdings die Folge mit CB noch nicht gesehen, werde ich die nächsten Tage erledigen.

So, ich habs mir heute Morgen dann auch endlich anschauen können.
Ok, es IST gewöhnungsbedürftig, ich musste mir dauernd innerlich auf die Flossen hauen &#39;Nein, das ist NICHT Aeryn, nein, die darf mit Daniel flirten, nein, da kommt keine Moya ums Eck&#39;. Aber im Großen und Ganzen hätte CB es schlimmer treffen können, Varla (sp?) scheint ein intelligentes, sehr selbständiges Biest zu sein, das genau weiß, was sie will. Also schon völlig in Ordnung.

“Farscape” co-stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black will reunite in several episodes of the ninth season of “Stargate: SG-1,” executive producer Robert C. Cooperecutive producer told Sci-Fi Wire.

From 1999 to 2003, the Australian-born Black played Aeryn Sun in “Farscape” against Browder’s John Crichton. The two reprised their roles in the recent Sci-Fi Channel miniseries, “Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars,” due out on DVD on Jan. 18.

Though Browder’s as-yet unnamed character will be a regular in Season 9, Black will first play Vala in the 12th episode of Season 8, “Prometheus Unbound,” which airs Jan. 28.

“It’ll be the second episode back in our run on the Sci-fi Channel,” Cooper said. “And we thought she was absolutely wonderful. The character really worked out. She had wonderful chemistry with Michael Shanks. She plays opposite Shanks’ Daniel Jackson in the episode."

Black will then return to SG-1 in five Season 9 episodes, which begin shooting in March.

“We are having to deal with a brief absence of Samantha Carter, played by Amanda Tapping, who&#39;s pregnant,” Cooper said of the actress. “And we had already discussed a storyline that involved the return of Vala, the character played by Claudia. We thought it worked perfectly to have that sort of mini-arc play out maybe while Amanda was less available to us.”

Cooper said that Black will play several scenes with Browder.

“She&#39;s a human from another planet, and she&#39;s a bit of an enigma,” he said. “You&#39;re not quite sure what her true story is in the episode, ‘Prometheus Unbound.’ She&#39;s a bit of a rogue who tells a long story about her planet and her people and her past, and then in the end you&#39;re not really quite sure whether it&#39;s true or not. So she&#39;s a bit of a wild card.

“She&#39;s a very sexy character who isn&#39;t afraid to take whatever she wants in any given situation. We had a lot of fun writing the role, and I know she had a lot of fun playing it.”

According to Cooper, the production crew is going try very hard to “maintain the integrity of that character and still have her sort of join up with the team, but still sort of keep the essence of that wonderful friction that went on between her and Daniel. I&#39;m sure it&#39;ll continue to sort of play out with the rest of the characters as well.”

Könnte zwar auch ins Adressen und News, aber hier ist&#39;s irgendwie besser aufgehoben: Auf Gateworld gibt es ein interessantes und relativ langes Interview mit Ben Browder über seine neue Rolle, seine Vorstellungen und eine ganze Menge Farscape-Erwähnungen. Leider nicht als Videodatei, wie es sonst bei diesen Interviews öfter der Fall ist.

Ganz interessant ist übrigens auch der Link zum Thread im GateWorld Forum unten. Bei den positiven Reaktionen könnte vielleicht der ein oder andere auch auf die Idee kommen, sich mal Farscape anzusehen.

Nun ich glaube SCIFI USA sieht das Engagement von Ben Browder und Claudia Black unter einem wirtschaftlichen Gesichtspunkt, obwohl die Miniserie "The Peacekeeper Wars" ein Erfolg war, ist es billiger Ben Browder und Claudia Black in "Stargate" einzubauen, um vielleicht Farscape-Fans an "Stargate" zu binden und ausserdem noch "Stargate - Atlantis" weiterzuführen, anstatt "Farscape" noch als dritte Serie auf SCIFI weiterlaufen zu lassen, so sehe ich diese Entscheidung&#33; Mit "Farscape im TV" rechne ich jedenfalls nicht mehr.

Diese Überlegungen haben ein dickes Loch: Dazu müssten BB und CB bei SciFi unter Vertrag stehen und das ist, meines Wissens nach, nicht der Fall.
Die könnten, wenn irgendjemand die beiden als eine Bereicherung für SG1 empfände, die zwei auch einfach sonstwo arbeiten oder am ausgestreckten Arm verhungern lassen. Aber die Zwei scheinen in ihrem Job gut genug zu sein, um eine sehr erfolgreiche und etablierte Serie mit ihnen aufzupeppen. 8)

Nun sie sind nicht bei SCIFI unter Vertrag, aber sie haben bestimmt einen Vertrag ab der 9.Staffel, der auch verlängert werden kann. Claudia Black soll ja eh nur in 5 Episoden dabei sein. Und wenn Ben Browder bei Stargate involviert ist, bleibt ihm glaube ich kaum noch Zeit bei einer Fortsezung von "Farscape" mitzuspielen. Könnte mir höchstens "Farscape" als Kinoprojekt vorstellen&#33;
