Warum JMS diesen mit Trollen und Dinosauriern behafteten Comic nun unbedingt B5-Fans empfiehlt, erschließt sich mir bisher auch nicht, außer das er vielleicht eine zusätzliche Käuferschicht für das Thema werben will. Na ja ich laß mich überraschen.

Hmm... auf Seite 1 habe ich noch als Möglichkeit die neue SW-Serie (damals noch ein Gerücht) angesprochen - nun gibt es einige weitere Leute im Fandom, die ähnliches vermuten.

Falls ihr es nicht gehört haben solltet, bei der "Star Wars Celebration"-Convention am Wochenende trat auch George Lucas höchstpersönlich auf, und hat nun nach monatelangen Gerüchten endlich bestätigt, dass es 2 Star Wars-Serien geben wird. "Clone Wars" wird eine Animationsserie sein und wird wohl in gewisser Weise eine "Neuinterpretation" der alten CW-Serie, allerdings mit neuem Animationsstil (3d). Daneben soll auch eine Real-Serie starten, die zwischen ROTS und ANH spielen wird. Interessant ist an dieser Ankündigung vor allem folgender Absatz:

The live action series will star some of the characters featured in the movies, though not the main characters. Lucas will kick-off the series himself. They are planning on writing the entire first season and then shooting Season One all at once. He mentioned Lucasfilm is aiming for a production start in about a year.

Nur zur Erinnerung: Folgendes hat JMS vor ein paar Wochen/Monaten über die neue Serie, an der er arbeitet, gesagt:

The plan is to write the whole first season over the course of 2005, shoot in the spring of 2006 for a fall 2006 debut.

Auf AICN kann man außerdem nachlesen, dass man wohl eine Art Arc für die Serie plant - so soll diese momentan auf 100 Episoden (ich vermute mal 20 pro Staffel) ausgelegt sein. Hmm... 5 Staffeln, Storyarc... wo hatten wir das schon mal?

Ach ja, und auch folgendes darf man nicht vergessen - ich erinnere an die Emmy-Verleihung '93 und zitiere JMS:

I was at the Emmys tonight for the presentation of the B5 Emmy, and in the visual efx area, more than one show can get an Emmy. So we got one, DS9's pilot got one, and Lucas' Young Indy show got one. (We sat at the next table to Lucas and his bunch, in fact, and noted that he watched the B5 footage with considerable interest.) So when you come right down to it, here we were, our first shot out of the box, and we ended up on the same level of appreciation as Trek and Lucas. Not too dusty....

Es KÖNNTE also sein dass GL die Serie zumindest teilweise weiterverfolgt hat und ihm gefiel, was JMS dort geleistet hat. Und als wären das nicht schon Indizien genug: Folgendes hat "colonyearth" (selbst Filmemacher und daher mit einigen Insider-Kontakten in der Branche) im JMSnews-Forum gepostet:

My source has just hinted that this could well be what JMS was referring to and that GL approached JMS personally.

Um die Erwartungen und Hoffnungen aber nicht in die Höhe schnellen zu lassen - folgendes hat JMS im Herbst letzten Jahres zu Protokoll gegeben, als die ersten Gerüchte zu einer Real-SW-Serie aufkamen und er von Fans darauf angesprochen wurde, ob er darin involviert ist:

I think it'd be a great idea, it would certainly be the job of a lifetime...I just don't think the friendly folks at ILM know me well enough to think of me for this. But if anybody over there reading this wants to put in a good word, feel free.

Nun... er sagt dort nicht dezidiert "nein" und es könnte sein, dass er zu diesem Zeitpunkt grad mitten in Verhandlungen war und keinesfalls was durchsickern lassen wollte - andererseits ist es aber eben auch möglich, dass JMS trotz all dieser Hinweise nichts mit der neuen SW-Serie zu tun haben wird. Freut euch also noch nicht zu früh, das alles ist bisher wie gesagt nur ein GERÜCHT...

das ist ja alles gut und schön, aber ich würde es trotzdem besser finden wenn JMS seinem eigenem Baby die Windeln wechselt anstatt von einem anderen.

mal abwarten was sich da zusammenbraut.

Es gibt Neuigkeiten von JMS, und nachdem diese eine Serie betreffen (auch wenn nicht klar ist, ob es sich um das gleiche Projekt handelt, welches er damals besprochen hat), passt es wohl am besten hier rein:

I've just had a treatment purchased for series development by a major studio/network. (This is non-B5.) The cool thing is that this is for one of the major broadcast networks and, if it ends up going ahead, would be for a prime-time series. But I have to attach all the usual caveats: the process is this...you write the treatment, then you write the pilot, then if the network likes the pilot script, they produce the pilot, and then if they like the pilot they give you the series. It's a very, very long process and like 90% of all development deals in town it can stop at any given point. But I'm very pleased about it because it's a major studio, major broadcast network, and that's terrific. More than that I absolutely can't say because everything about the story being developed is totally confidential.
