Fan-Stille Post. David Tennant fehlt zwei Tage, es scheint also nicht viel besser geworden zu sein. Gerüchteweise geht's ihm immer noch nicht gut, und da Rückenschmerzen so 'ne Sache sind, vermute ich mindestens eine Woche vom Arzt verordnete Pause. Hoffen wir mal, dass es nichts ernstes ist :/

Dafür gibt's aber nette/höfliche Kritiken vom Telegraph und der Times für Ed Bennet.

Das war's dann also mit David als Hamlet bis Weihnachten.

David is to undergo surgery for a slipped disc tomorrow and will not be returning to Hamlet before Christmas. He has issued the following statement:
"It is hugely disappointing for me. My back problem has progressed to the point where it is currently impossible for me to carry on without surgery. I want to get back on stage as quickly as possible and I am very grateful to Ed who has courageously got to grips with the role but in a much shorter time. It's a fantastic achievement."

Prust... Ich hatte ganz übersehen, dass die Serie im ZDF Theaterkanal - eigentlich der richtige Platz für sowas - läuft. Die deutschen Stimmen habe ich mal am Mittwoch kurz vernommen und wieder abgeschaltet. (Wozu haben wir die DVDs? Ebend.)

Ed Bennett bleibt weiterhin Hamlet. David kehrt bis einschließlich 3. Januar immer noch nicht auf die Bühne zurück.

We are very aware of the need to keep people updated about Hamlet at the Novello Theatre.

David Tennant's doctors are delighted with the progress he is making. His recovery is encouraging so far, and we are not ruling out that he might be able to return to Hamlet during the last week of the run, although we cannot be more specific about the exact date of his possible return. We can however confirm that David will not be performing in Hamlet from 26 December 2008 to 3 January 2009 inclusive.

Edward Bennett will continue in the title role, with Tom Davey, Ricky Champ and Robert Curtis retaining their understudy roles as Laertes, Guildenstern and Lucianus.

David Tennant said today:

“I am so grateful for all the terrific medical attention I have received and although it is frustrating to have to take it easy whilst all my friends and colleagues continue at the Novello Theatre every night, I am aware that I must listen to the experts and take my time. I am impatient to be back at work and sincerely hope to make it back some time before the end of the run.

I am very sorry to disappoint anyone who booked to come and see me in Hamlet, but confident that you will be far from disappointed by Edward Bennett's performance in the title role. He is one of British theatre's most promising talents and an opportunity to see his Hamlet, alongside the brilliant ensemble of actors that I have had the great pleasure of working with all year, is very exciting.”

Schade, aber ich bin mir sicher, die Show am 2.1. wird dennoch schön Im Gegensatz zu anderen völlig dämlichen Fangirls werde ich jedenfalls nicht mein Ticket verkaufen, bloß weil David nicht auf der Bühne steht.

Ich hab am Freitagabend Ed Bennett noch erleben dürfen und ganz ehrlich, der Mann ist einfach erste Sahne als Hamlet. Und da er "seinen" Hamlet auch ganz anders als David gespielt hat, kann man die beiden echt nicht vergleichen. War jedenfalls ein superschöner Abend und es freut mich riesig, dass ich Ed noch in der Titelrolle gesehen hab. Nix gegen David, aber Ed hat sämtliche Erwartungen meilenweit übertroffen. Und hinterher an der Stage Door hat er mich voll breit angegrinst als ich ihm gesagt hab, wie toll ich ihn in der Rolle fand (Autogramm hab ich natürlich auch gleich eingeheimst )
