Taking viewers backstage into the misadventures of the New Burbage Theatre Festival, in season three, Artistic Director Geoffrey (Paul Gross) is burdened with the pressure to produce a follow-up to his previous hit production Macbeth. With his ghostly mentor Oliver Wells (Stephen Ouimette) too busy trying to "crossover," and his one-time love Ellen (Martha Burns)preoccupied by the effects of his troubling mental state on her, Geoffrey finds support in Charles Kingsman (William Hutt), an aging Canadian actor wrestling with the fear of playing King Lear.
