The Sci Fi Channel and Tribune Entertainment have made an agreement to broadcast the fifth and final season of GENE RODDENBERRY'S ANDROMEDA next fall as an original series for the cable channel. The deal also calls for Sci Fi Channel to have the rights to broadcast the first four seasons of ANDROMEDA plus all three seasons (66 episodes total) of the now-cancelled BEASTMASTER series.

ANDROMEDA will begin airing on the Channel starting in March 2004. The episodes will be from the fourth season, currently airing in syndication. When the fifth season starts in the fall, SFC will air the new episode of ANDROMEDA a week to ten days ahead of its broadcast in the syndication market.

"ANDROMEDA has so much going for it that attracted Sci Fi to the series," said Thomas Vitale, Senior Vice President of Scheduling, Acquisitions & Planning for The Sci Fi Channel. "The Gene Roddenberry name, the talents of Kevin Sorbo and the rest of the cast, and the quality that Tribune Entertainment and its partners bring to the screen, makes this an exciting addition to the Sci Fi Channel schedule. We're particularly looking forward to airing new original episodes first on Sci Fi as part of our Friday original lineup."

ANDROMEDA stars Kevin Sorbo (HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS) as Dylan Hunt, captain of the sentient starship Andromeda and sworn protector of the Commonweath interstellar government. The series has been a strong performer in syndication even though it has suffered from the loss of two regular cast members and the series developer and showrunner, Robert Hewitt Wolfe.

OMFG.
